Football Vs Futbol

First of all, all of you American football players out there- please don't kill me I'm just saying what I think and you can do the same (that is assuming you can read and write)

This post is about how American Football doesn't compare to the football (soccer) that the rest of the world knows.

American football is obsessed with power. There are huge guys with huge arms and huge egos. The whole team is filled with testosterone and claim they are the most manly men on the planet. Yet the sport they play is weak and frail compared to REAL football.

In Futbol all the players have to think. You have to assess the game as it happens and make potentially game-changing decisions in seconds. This is opposed to American football where the coach just tells you what to do and you do it.

Another flaw in American football is the fitness of the players. Football players (for the most part) are lazy. They run a play, take a break, discuss how they feel, run a play, drink some water, and then run another play. This applies to the games as well where there is technically three teams the offense, the defense, and the special teams. In Futbol there are a maximum of fourteen players throughout the ninety minute game. The NFL has breaks and plays for less time.

The NFL also screws the competition up in another way- the franchise system. In the NFL teams stay in the NFL for how much time they want, even of they have an awful season. In the best Futbol leagues (keeping out the MLS and the Mexican Clausura) the worst three teams are relegated from the league. This possibility of being pushed out of the league adds incentive to do the best they can for professional honor. If an NFL team does bad (Browns) the can sit at the bottom of the league for as long as they have the money to. Again Futbol shows itself to be better than Football.

Another debate for Futbol is the Skill involved with the other Football. I am not questioning the skill or athleticism involved with the running back or quarterback, but mainly the lineman. All they do is block left or block right or whatever. All a person needs to do that is a huge body. In Futbol every player on the field needs to be able to do the same thing, from the strikers to the goalkeeper. Many Football players response to this is "In soccer all you do is kick a ball" but when they try to play the simply cant put up a contest.

The fans in Futbol are much more passionate as well (who wouldn't be; i mean what would you rather see: A forty yard driven ball to the top corner of the net or a bunch of men in pads hitting each other?) When a goal is scored in Soccer the crowd jumps, the stadium explodes with sound and everyone in the stadium is either alive with delight or dying of depression. Futbol fans have songs and devotion and spirit while Football fans have beer and high-fives. The passion and "insanity" seen in the most intense NFL fans is seen in nearly all fans of soccer
